After having a very late night and a few drinks at the bar last night, everyone got up late. We all left the bar at 2.30am then spent 30 minutes laughing and joking about before going bed.
Once everyone had got up and showered we all went down the bar for a late lunch. Ben and Dan had the roast dinner and I just went for some chili. We then spent the afternoon watching the F1 racing then the football, before heading back to the villa to chill out in the sun.
By the time evening arrived we all had decided to head to a bar in town, this is because our onsite bar closes at 8pm on Sundays. The bar we went to is run by a Dutch lady and is really nice. However getting to it is a rather long walk. Also0 along the walk we pass houses which have dogs in them, which love to bark at you.
When we arrived, we spent the evening drinking beer and chilling out.
Overall we had a very relaxing lazy Sunday.
The morning began as normal, everyone got up and Mike cooked everyone beacon sandwiches, while Dan made tea. Once everyone had showered we all set of out for the bank, as Ben had to do something for his mother, which turned out to be closed.
We had all decided to visit Castillo De Santa Barbara, which is a fort. It had the most amazing views of the coast and city. The fort was massive and walking around the fort was nice.
On the way back however some woman in a Honda Civic decided to not break at the roundabout and crash into the back of Mike’s car. So we pull over on the roundabout, take a look and check for visible damage. However the car is undamaged and we continue our journey back to town. We grabbed lunch at a sea facing restaurant then headed back to the villa.
The first half of the evening was spent chilling out by the pool and swimming. Then off to the bar for food. Today I think we all decided on something smaller than the cod from last night. I also decided to try the local Brandy which was rather nice and the bar owners gave really nice generous glasses of it as well for cheap prices.
So basically for dinner we all ordered fish and chips. I say fish but it looked like a bloody shark on the plate. More to the point Jaws!
Believe it or not I had the largest fish out the lot. That’s right the small guy gets the large one. It was a whole Icelandic Cod on my plate with chips. The fish was a good 1/4 overlapping the edge of a standard dinner plate!
It was a food war going on my plate and I’m sorry to report the dinner won the war, but I won the battle of the fish. I somehow managed to eat a whole Icelandic cod and leave the chips. Words alone can’t describe the epicenes of the fish at bar Neptuno, which is why I took photos as well. This bar is well known for its fish and chips, people do travel from distance to eat it. Best of all it’s our on-site bar! I believe the onsite owners Carl and Julie quote “You never go hungry here” and I have to agree!
The day began very overcast; however the weather did pickup throughout the day. Not much happened today. Everyone got up late, and we all had bacon sandwiches; we had a rather relaxing day.
The day was spent onsite, using the swimming pool and enjoying the warm weather and getting sun tans. The pool was a refreshing cold and was nice to swim in. We also done some much needed laundry and hung it out to dry (boring I know, but smelly stuff is bad!)
Later in the evening we all went down the bar for food and drinks. The bar literally cooks everything to order and everything is basically homemade and prepared on site. Yesterday we had ordered Cod and Chips. This was so the fish could be thawed out before hand etc. Now after seeing the Icelandic Cod before, the only way to describe it is “OMG it’s MASSIVE” The fish hardly fits on the plate! The fish is also prepared in a homemade beer batter and deep fried and served with chips.
While we sat in the bar a massive storm brewed outside, lot’s of lightning and thunder, was really epic.
The day began rather very hot, in fact the hottest it’s been since we got here, and since the epic storm. It was so nice to sit up on the villa roof in the sun with a cool breeze and listening to the sea and birds. After enjoying the sun for some time, and altering songs to rhyme with sun and burning (mostly aimed at Dan G) we decided to head to a local village market.
After getting rather lost, we finally found the local Spanish market. It was full of fresh vegetable sellers, lots of fresh fruit and clothes. Once we browsed the market we walked to the local beach and sat in a restaurant by the beach for lunch.
After lunch we went for a walk along the beach, however we got slightly lost and ended up walking for epic long distance. When we finally found the car we decided to head back to the mountains for the dam we went too yesterday. The reason being because the weather was better today than yesterday and it was a very sunny day. However our journey took a slow turn when for half the mountain trip up, we were stuck behind a coach. The coach was so selfish and made a massive line behind it, by refusing to pull over. However Ben’s diesel Astra was enjoying going slowly up the hill, pulling 4 people up as well.
We finally arrived at the dam and took some more photos and went on a small tour of the dam using a rather narrow road. On the way back Ben decided to do some rally style mountain driving. In other words screeching round corners fast etc. However on one corner Ben nearly overcooked it to the point where we came so close to spinning. Would have been funny if we did as just before we had overtaken some slow van.
Later in the evening we ended up back at the local bar.
